ViperChill Monthly Report 6
It has now been six months since I relaunched ViperChill. On one hand I’m really excited to be in the situation I’m in because the growth here is amazing but on the other I’m sad to see just how fast the time has gone already. Time flies when you’re having run, right?
If you’re new here then each month I share the exact keywords and referring sites that sent traffic to ViperChill in the last month. I don’t have any subscriber or traffic goals so this report is purely just interesting for me to look at, as I hope it is for you as well.
Overall Traffic

- Visits: 35,696
- Pageviews: 72,243
- Avg time on Site: 3 mins 39 seconds
The pageviews on the site have doubled since last month and the time on site has increased so that shows the quality of traffic landing here. The site is starting to see the kind of numbers I would expect it to have which is excellent. The articles written in March, were:
- 28 Resources from My Internet Marketing Toolbox
- The Process That Makes Me Thousands of Dollars Per Month Online
- How I Helped Make a Bland Blog an Overnight Success
- $1M Case Study: Hiring an FHM Model
- Backstage Pass: How I Do What I Do
- The Most Important Blog Post You’ll Probably Never Read
- Buying & Selling Websites for Profit: An In-Depth Guide
Here at ViperChill there are a lot less articles published than most sites, but typically these articles are 2,000-3,000 words and cover topics in massive detail. You could say that we prefer signal over noise.
Top Referring Websites
Here are the top referring traffic sources for the month of March:
- Direct: 11,476
- StumbleUpon: 3,491
- Google (organic): 2,854
- Twitter.com: 2,151
- Google.com: 2,150
- Sphinn.com: 1,446
- SEOmoz.org: 1,130
- PPC.bz: 755
- Smartpassiveincome.com: 607
- Facebook.com: 444
Private note from Glen: I have noticed one European blogger trying to mimic my traffic sources exactly each month. To you I want to say that what you’re doing is fine, but as my aim here is to help people as much as possible, I feel the need to say your time would be best spent focusing on your content and carving out your own niche.
Top Referring Keywords
There were a total of 2,967 visits via 874 keywords this month. The top 10, were:
- ViperChill: 894
- viper chill: 280
- guest blogging: 162
- viral marketing: 110
- viperchill.com: 54
- glen allsopp: 44
- wordpress seo: 29
- internet marketing: 28
- www.viperchill.com: 23
- viperchill minimalist marketing: 18
Last month the search engine traffic grew by 33% and this month it has grown by almost 50%. Search engine traffic only accounts for 8.31% of visits to ViperChill but it’s still nice to see this figure growing.
Subscriber Stats
Monitoring your subscriber stats is probably the best way to track how well your audience is growing. Although I don’t have any goals for the size of the community here, I still think it is an interesting metric to monitor.
- March 1st: 4,337
- March 31st: 5,325
- Change: +988
988 new subscribers in a month is a new record here at ViperChill and something I’m both surprised at and happy with. If this continues the site should reach 10,000 subscribers well before the end of the year, which is a huge milestone.
If you’re reading this in a feed reader or inbox, thanks for subscribing!
6 Month Stats
I thought it would be interesting to look at a few metrics and see how they have changed over the course of the last six months.
Brand Searches
Here I monitored how many people have found the site using the term ‘viperchill’ in a search engine. If searches for your brand are growing then you know you’re doing something right and people are talking about you.

Subscribers
This month saw the biggest growth in subscribers yet. This is partly due to a few things happening that I probably can’t duplicate so I’ll see how the next month goes when I continue to focus on writing the best content I can.

Pageviews
Month 4 saw a huge amount of traffic from StumbleUpon hence the uneven growth. I don’t really rate traffic from StumbleUpon so it’s nice to see only a small portion of visitors from the site made up the 72,000 pageviews for March.

Personal Activity
I don’t really have too much to report this month on a personal level. One great thing that happened was my interview for Dan Schawbel at Personal Branding Blog which was syndicated on Forbes and Reuters. I’m quite proud of that. My brother finalised the dates for his wedding so it looks like I’ll be returning to the UK at some point next year.
Although I’ve only been in South Africa for two months I’ve already had the most profitable month of my life so things are going very well in terms of business. Hopefully it’s not too long till I can tell my brother and sister they can quit their job; there is absolutely nothing as important to me as that right now.
I am admittedly getting overloaded with the number of people I have to see each week and how many projects I’m working on. I’ve let down a number of people I used to be very close with in this country simply because I’m so focused on making what I do a success. I’m still trying to find the best balance between the two so I’ll let you know how that works out.
Finally, I just want to thank you all for your support over the last 6 months. I genuinely want to help you guys as much as possible so it’s great to get feedback which shows I’m doing exactly that. I have never been part of a more awesome community online of people who really want to succeed and help others do the same.

Hey James,
. I’ve only just started helping Glen out myself and am also going back through all the articles and getting a load of information
. Many things I’d never even thought of
.
However you found us, we’re glad you did
I’ve forgotten exactly when I started reading, or where I heard about you, but it was a month or two ago, and I’m glad I found this blog. I’ve been trying to retroactively go back and read posts, and there is a TON of information here. Props. Interesting to see that a lot of traffic is coming from PPC.bz
Steve Pavlina was one of the first bloggers I saw writing novels for articles when everyone was saying they should be shorter and catch attention with lots of headings, bullets, and short paragraphs. You won’t find that at Steve’s… Do you happen to read Rands in Repose? He puts out about a post a month and they’re always excellent reads.
You have some great content. Enjoying reading your articles… now I have 9 new tabs with your articles on them ready to read. Cheers bro, keep kicking a**.
Nice to see some stats – I just launched a blog my self and its just nice to see figures from other sites. Also I will just say I enjoy you post and look forward to more.
Thanks for clarifying
I am launching my own blog, and my traffic reports are far from your metrics Glenn.
Not the same language, not the same blogger neither! Thanks for inspiration
Glen, you are so inspirational! I really enjoy getting your posts in my inbox, especially these monthly reports.
Hey Franck,
I had around 2,200 when I started. You can view the month one report here: http://www.viperchill.com/viperchill-1/
I started this blog when I was 16 (5 years ago) but abandoned it.
Great info!
1 question. it looks like you have started with 3000 RSS subs in Month1. Did you get them from scratch in 1 month ? or is it a kind of asset you could recycle/reuse ¿?
I am glad to see the search exploding in Month6. Search Engines still matters.
You’re doing extremly well. Congrats!
You’re doing great, Glen! Especially the time spent on site it’s what counts from my point of view. That shows that you’re not getting “click crap traffic”. Way to go
It is always great to see how your site is doing. It is an encouragement. Keep up the great work Glen!
